Member of Technical Staff - AI Engineer
About Ethos
We're building autonomous agents powered by human experts. Our first agent, “The Investment Researcher” is capable of performing end-to-end investment search. It can generate industry-standard research reports in minutes. Need to fill knowledge gaps? It can search 500M+ expert profiles in seconds, and even call those experts for you and send back their insights.
Experts get paid fairly and earn royalties.
Clients get validated research in hours, not days — and at a fraction of the cost.
We’re now live with 40+ top-tier clients—including VC, PE, and hedge funds. Our expert network includes Fortune 500 CXOs, unicorn founders, and world leading researchers.
We are backed by General Catalyst, 8VC, Conviction, and angels from OpenAI, DeepMind, Amazon, and Google, Ethos is led by McKinsey and DeepMind alumni on a mission to redefine how intelligence scales.
About the Role
We're building the future of autonomous intelligence - agents powered by human expertise that don't replace experts, but amplify them.
As a Member of Technical Staff - AI Engineer, you'll be at the core of that vision architecting the next generation of these autonomous agents. You'll iterate on sophisticated algorithms that seamlessly blend artificial intelligence with human expertise, developing new capabilities that continuously evolve our agents' intelligence. Working with massive real-world datasets, you'll build systems that capture deep insights about people, companies, and markets, transforming raw information into the knowledge that powers real commercial decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Algorithmic Development: Design, implement, and iterate on sophisticated algorithms that power our autonomous research agents - matching, reasoning, insight generation and voice conversations
Expert Matching & Discovery: Develop and optimize data-driven algorithms that can intelligently match research needs with relevant experts from our 500M+ profile database
Real-World Data Integration: Work hands-on with massive, diverse datasets (company data, expert profiles, research papers, podcasts, patents) to continuously improve our agents' knowledge and decision-making capabilities
Advance Voice AI: Advance our autonomous interviewing capabilities by developing algorithms that can conduct natural, productive conversations with domain experts
Ship to production with close collaboration across engineering, design, and product
Required Experience
Production AI Experience: 3-5 years of hands-on experience developing and deploying machine learning algorithms with real-world, large-scale datasets in production environments
Algorithm Development: Proven track record of developing, testing, and iterating on complex algorithms using data-driven methodologies
Technical Proficiency: 3-5 years of programming experience with Python, Typescript and relevant ML frameworks; comfortable in both algorithmic innovation and production implementation
Data Engineering: Experience with data preprocessing, feature engineering, and working with messy, large-scale real-world datasets (millions+ records)
Database & Search Systems: Proficiency in SQL, vector databases, and experience with large-scale search and retrieval systems
Educational Background: MS/Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, or related quantitative field
Who We’re Looking For
You're probably:
Hungry, scrappy, and hands-on - you prototype fast, and don’t wait for perfect
Obsessed with real-world impact - you want your work to power decisions in billion-dollar markets
Deeply technical - you’re as comfortable with vector search as you are with full-stack development
Agentpilled - you believe the next leap in AI is systems that reason and act, not just predict
Mission-driven - you want to work at the edge of intelligence and opportunity, not make another B2B dashboard
Ready to change the world - you want to look back and say “I built that”
If that’s you, apply. We’re building something that no one has built before - and we need you to help us do it.
